Snoozed Exams and Proud Turks

Where was I?........ Thursday last week. I think I did nothing. Can't remember anything special anyways. On Friday I didn't do much either except for having a little drink and chat with people outside. We were actually supposed to go to Northbridge together but Judith and Karolina changed their mind and so we just sat with the other people by the BBQ place. I had a good time just talking about random stuff and singing ABBA songs with Karoline. At some point, when I just came back from the bathroom (my timing was perfect actually) I saw the security guards giving us a lecture about being too noisy and messy. They actually took some people's names and told us to clean up immediatly. That incident actually killed the mood and so people cleaned up and started leaving. I didn't wanna go home yet and so a couple of us ended up at Ander's place to just sit and talk for a bit more. However, it didn't take lon until security showed up agian, this time being sent because some one from downstairs didn't like our party. Anders was very apologetic but got into big trouble because apparently it hadn't been the first but the sixth time that security had to come up to his flat. I really don't understand how some people who live in halls on campus call security if there's just one person sneezing too loudly instead of coming over, asking to be more quiet. I mean.. when you live on campus you have to expect certain things and silent neighbors isn't one of them. Anyway... Anders ended up with being told that this was gonna be the last time to have a party at his flat and if he was too noisy again, he would be thrown out of the accommodation. At least he didn't have to pay a fine or anything. Great job to whoever called security!
I don't think I did anything else during that weekend except going through some rough times with my boyfriend. But I don't wanna go into detail here.... Monday I actually didn't go to Curtin FM cause I wasn't feeling all too well. The cold hat really hit me. Tuesday however, I felt better and so I went to the advertizing tutorial in which we just talked about the upcoming mid-term exam and worked on our group projects. I am actually looking forward to doing this one cause we will have to make our own two print ads by the end and present our product to the class. I think we can really do well on this one. At 15.00 o'clock I met up with Denise to work on our PR essay that was due this Thursday. We sat down in the library but didn't really get to work cause about 30 minutes later Denise's boyfriend called and told her to come to the city with him cause they had to pick up some tickets. I agreed to come with and so I spent my afternoon in town watching Denise and Jerome having lunch (I had already had food and wasn't hungry).
After lunch, Denise decided that I had to try Bubble Tea and so we went to this place where they make cold tea in about 30 different flavors and put little jelly things in them that dissolve a little. From the puzzled look on my face the owner of the shop guessed that I was a first-timer and so he suggested to get strawberry tea with little black balls that looked like cavair of a monster fish. Cause the jelly things are so big, you get a big straw to suck them up with the tea. As soon as I tried my first fish egg I regretted it. They didn't really taste like anyhting but had the texture of in water dissolved gummi bears. So not pleasent! I managed to drink about half the tea, only eating about 4 of the balls. The rest I threw away. At some point I really couldn't have it anymore and so I stopped being nice and threw it away. Bubble tea is a very useless invention for people that like to eat slimy stuff...
We drove to Denise's flat which is one of the funniest flats I have ever seen. The way it was built was just weird but cute. I would like to live there. It has about enough space for two people. It wasn't all too cosy but Denise and Jerome haven't had much time to arrange it cause they moved just when classes started. Both of them also work 40 hours a week cause they have to afford their living and university. Also, the flat they lived in before had been broken into and the guys stole their laptops, money, shoes and more. Thank god campus is a little safer at least in that perspective. Jerome was so tired that he feel asleep on the beanbag soon and Denise and I tried to work on our essays but were just as unsuccessful as before. She then drove me home where I went to bed quickly.
For Wednesday I had agreed with Denise to meet up again to get our essays done and so after handball training, which was pretty messy this time cause we were only 7 people of which 4 didn't know how to play, we took a shower in the gym and went for dinner at Nando's. Afterwards we drove to the computer labs and sat there for about 5 hours, kind of progressing but not really. Denise finished her essay but she had had more than me. I on the other hand had one of those weeks where nothing seemed to work and so I asked my tutor if I could get a one day extension. She granted me my wish and so I went home with my essay half way done.
Thursday I devoted the whole day to working on my stuff, the essay as well as studying for my mid-term exam for advertizing. My brain was still blocked and so I spent hours just staring at my laptop screen, doing everything else BUT work on my essay. It had never been as horrible as this week. However, by the end of the night I was about three quarters done and felt pretty confident. I went to bed but couldn't sleep for quite some time and so I feel asleep very late.
That became my doom the next morning when I didn't hear the alarm and overslept my exam. It was supposed to start at 11.00 but my alarm for 9.30 became victim of the snooze button. At 11.00 I was woken up by the door bell, which I also weirdly enough had dreamt about. Drowsy I looked at the clock realizing that I was already late. As fast as I had never gotten ready before I ran into the bathroom, washed my face, brushed my teeth and got dressed. In a record of 5 minutes I rushed to the lecture hall which luckily was closest of all my lecture halls for the other units and arrived there 20 minutes late and drenched in sweat. I thank the lord (or whoever is up there) that it was a mulitiple choice test and so I still had enough time to get all the questions done. It wasn't too hard and most of it was logical thinking and common knowledge. I hadn't studied much so I think that I can do super well on my exam in June if I study then.
After the exam there was no time to relax but I had to get my essay done and write another news script for broadcasting. After getting breakfast and the biggest coffee they had, I sat down in the computer lab and finished my essay and my news script. After handing in the news script, I rushed to building 402 in which I thought I could give my essay to my tutor. But cause she is not really a teacher but actually a PR practitioner she didn't have a classroom and so I ran around in circles for about 15 minutes trying to find her. Randomly I asked someone who told me that she thought that Jenny was in a different building and so in panic and despair I decided intuitively to run to a different building where I found Jenny sitting on a bench. I handed in the essay about 2 minutes before it was due. My day was saved!!!! I can't believe how lucky I actually was but this must have been one of the most stressful days of my life. Actually, it will also have been the most stressful week of my time here cause in no other week I will have 3 things due in 2 days...
After I was finally able to breathe again I made my way down to my room, making dinner and getting ready for the night out. Friday was summer fest and I had bought my ticket 3 weeks in advance. Now I was looking forward to it even more. At about 18.00 I went to Karolina's flat where I met up with some other people for pre-drinks. We had a few drinks and chats with some dance music in the background. I hadn't been there for 15 minutes when a housing assistant came into the living room saying that we needed to turn the music down cause some girl in the flat had an exam the next morning. Another one of those moments where I can just shake my head. If you think the music is too loud, come over YOURSELF and SAY SOMETHING! Karolina was even more pissed cause that hadn't been the first time that that girl was giving the other ones crap. And who the hell has an exam on Saturday!? BullShit!
Asshole girl (as she is being called by Karolina now) was topic of conversation for another hour when we finally made our way to the party. However, we wanted to stop off at Björn's place before. Everyone else had left but we thought it was too early to go to the tav. However, Björn's place was empty and so we stayed at Maddie's and Magnus' place for a bit. Cause they're a couple they have the studio flat in Don Watts house. I am SO jealous. I really start to hate Rotary. I live in a place where food rotts in the fridge cause people forget about it, trying to stuff shit in there for 8 people (all the other houses have twice that space). My freezer is so loud that I have to close the door to the kitchen at night. (I don't even know how a freezer can be that loud). Anyway... At about 20.00 we walked to the tav where the party was fully going on. The only shit thing was that you had to buy coupons to buy drinks. There was no cash transactions that night. Actually, that was kind of good cause buying drinks was much quicker then. However, if you lost your coupons, you lost money.
Tha party was alright. There were two dancefloors with house and hip hop music. I don't know what I did the entire time but I remember having a conversation with Wesley at some point about how I hated smoking, asking him for 7 reasons why he liked it. Unfortunately, he was able to give me 7 and so I had to let him go. However, not without taking one cigarrette from his mouth and breaking it in two. (I had never felt that evil... but I was drunk so you can't really blame me). (Und ja Papsi, ich trinke ab und zu mal einen...) At 23.00 o'clock the party started to emtpy and so I also decided to head home, having lost Magnus, Maddie and Karolina at 22.30 o'clock. I met Anne (a half French, half Philippino girl) and Abbie (a Dutch girl) with whom I walked home. We also took Gem (I think that's how you spell his name), a Turkish guy who told me that Hitler was not mad but stupid, trying to take on the states and Russia at the same time. He also told me that Hitler could have gone through Turkey instead of Russia but didn't do so cause he was too afraid. Well, well... the Turks are a proud people.

Curtin FM And Noisy Roomies

Unfortunately I didn't have a long night to recuperate from the long and exhausting weekend cause (even though I had the day off) I went to Curtin FM, the community radio station on Curtin campus. They are a station primarily run by volunteer workers and so anyone who finds fun in producing or presenting a radio show can come in to help out. They also offered me volunteer work, which will give me some good experience for my future job as Germany's hottest radio presenter. ;)
Even though the station is very small, it was still very interesting to have a look into how shows are produced and put together. The whole process of completely patching a show together takes about 3 hours and should ideally take place between 9.00 and 12.00 o'clock (cause that's when the afternoon show starts). I was in an office working together with Liesa (a volunteer producer), Jenny (the presenter) and Carly (a full-time head of production), looking up news stories, getting interviewees and making up questions for quizzes. Luckily, Carly had done most of the work on the weekend before and so we didn't really have much to do that morning. Next Monday might be very different though. At 12.00 the show then started and Liesa and me sat in the producer's booth, taking calls, updating the weather and watching over the whole process of the show. Funny how callers call in about the most trivial stuff like telling Jenny that she didn't use a word correctly or how they loves Jenny cause she had a very nice voice. Then again, our listeners (yay, I said our) are 45 plus and will probably not have anything else to do in a day than calling a radio station. All in all, the day was fun and interesting and I hope to get lots of more experience there while I'm here. Gonna be there next Monday again and will actually go every Monday for 6 hours. All the other days I have classes and so Monday is my only free day.
Tuesday I didn't do much except going to classes and watching movies all day. I think that day was just too lazy. Wednesday I went to classes again, but they didn't start until 14.00 o'clock so I could sleep in. Documentary would be SO interesting if we wouldn't watch as much boring stuff and would maybe get a longer break. For a whole of 3 hours of class, Dick (our lecturer... and yes we call them by first name here) only gives us 5 minutes to get food or drinks or take a wee. Those three hours are the worst in the whole week. But it guess it could still be worse than that. lol After the lecture we had our tutorial again in which I kind of embarrassed a presenter cause she didn't know something and when I corrected her it made the point she was tryin to make irrelevant. I felt kinda proud. lol
After the tute I headed straight home to get changed and then walk to handball pratice. This time I took a shorter way and so it took me only 15 minutes to walk there. I am still discovering new short cuts every day (even though I haven't found one yet that only takes me 5 minutes to classes and I don't think such shortcut exists. Unless you were to build underground tunnels). Handball practice was very exhausting this time. We already know that my stamina isn't the best but I am also coming down with a cold and so at some point I wasn't really able to breathe, forcing me to take a break. Then again, we had been runnning for 30 minutes without taking breaks and Ronny (our trainer) was really pushing us. The warm weather also wasn't really helping. However, I made it through training and afterwards we all headed to the tav for a drink and to decide about our team name, colors and our committee. Turns out: I am the new Curtin Handball Club treasurer. WAHAY! Dunno really what I have to do but I guess it'll be fun. :D
Since I hadn't really eaten much all day I got myself some fries and as soon as I put them on the table, all the other guys (Denise and I were the only girls this time) threw themselves on them like vultures. Thank god, they still left some for me. And if they hadn't they would have gotten their asses kicked. (You know me). After a long discussion and many useless name suggestions like Curtin butterflies, Quakkas or Wombats, we kind of decided on Curtin Pandas. I don't really agree with that name and would like to be the Curtin Mosquitos but we're a democracy (and not a cheerocracy haha). We don't know our colors yet but we know that Denise is the chair and Will the vice chair of our club, which is good cause Denise, Will and me are all in the same PR class and will have to design a PR project for the handball club. That's gonna be fun.
Trying to get a drink I bumped into Judith, Karolina, Sebastian, Magnus and Madeleine with whom I then danced a bit. I felt very dressed down cause I was still wearing my training gear, actually looking quite like a hip hopper. However, I got very tired and wasn't feeling all to fresh anyway and so when Denise said that she was gonna be picked up by her boyfriend, I decided to call it a night a head home too. Luckily she was able to take me. You see... around Bently (which is the suburb I live in) it's not really safe to walk around alone (or actually not at all). We've had several attacks where mainly aborigines jump out of the bushes, beating you up and taking all your money. There have also been some murders, but I am not really sure of that. I heard someone say something but I am really hoping that it isn't true. Anyway, not trying to scare anyone here and if I'm not scaring you, I am scaring myself, but I got home safe. Took a long, hot shower, trying to get to bed as soon as possible.
What I seemed to have forgotten is that it was Wednesday, which is a common party day around campus and I was woken up by something bouncing on the floor repeatedly, two floors above me (I SO hate living on the bottom floor). After about 20 minutes of monotonous bouncing I had enough and walked upstairs to tell some people off. However, the 3rd floor claimed that it wasn't them and 2nd floor said that it was coming from upstairs. Now logically there is not 2.5th floor in any building and so I didn't really know who to believe. Hoping that it would end, I went back to bed. I was wrong. About 10 minutes later it started again. This time accompanied with loud screams and sounds of moving funiture. I just thought: What the fuck!!?, took my keys and ran upstairs again, finding some random guy I had no clue who he was, opening the door. I was really pissed off by then and just yelled in their faces. Apparently they were scared of me but aftewards it kinda stopped. Some slight aftershocks but quiet so far....
UNTIL I suddenly hear an acoustic fucking guitar coming from the room next door. I thought I wasn't hearing right. And guess who was in the room next door... My roommate (yes of course) and 3 drunk guys from the 3rd floor. Heaven knows how they got into our flat. Now I was about to blow up. Really screaming in their faces that for the past 2 hours they have been keeping me awake and that I was sort of irritated. Ben (who introcuded himself to me) told me that he was really sorry for having woken me up and not meaning to annoy me. I didn't care and just told them to get the hell out of our flat or I'd call security on their asses. He wasn't a really smart guy cause he kept arguing with me, trying to get my name and to apologize until Alex suddenly opened his door (shirtless of course) asking in the deepest and most heroic voice: NEED HELP!? I almost started laughing... But he finally managed to get them out of our flat and luckily there was no more noise apart from a few heavy stomps which kind of seemed to be directed at me to just piss the hell out of me. WHAT a night... Phew

Rottnest And Other Adventures

So Thursday I was having a nervous break down cause I decided that I absolutely hate my flat. This place is just taking my air to breathe sometimes cause the people in here are just idiots. Except Alex. He's a cool guy (even though very American) but I'm planning a road trip with him so I will have to get along somehow. I'm actually looking into changing my flat. I am just the most unlucky person when it comes down to campus accommodation. I will have to ask God what kind of game he's playing with me... After a calming call from my sister I actually asked Jim to help me but got even more upset then cause he decided to ignore me. Once again. I am so done with this guy. -.-
Friday was just like any other day of sleeping in and missing class. Man, I am already starting to miss a few more than I wanted to. I actually met a guy who told me that his only goal this semester was not to pass his units but to attend EVERY lecture, even if he's asleep or busy not listening. But he will sit there for EVERY lecture. Kudos to that guy. LOL I think I would rather not to than having to sit there and falling asleep because the lecturer is going off on tangents about how to make kangaroo curry. Actually, sometimes even that could be more interesting than what we are told. But I shouldn't complain. Lectures here are still way more interesting than in Lufbra. On the way back from classes I bumped into Anders with whom I decided that we should have dinner together. So after he was done with his classes, Sebastian, Anders and me went to Coles to get food. Then we just hung out at Anders' place drinking red wine from a carton (actually tastes better than I think) and eating tomato mozzarella salad (which the guys rlly seemed to love), chicken and steak. Very yummie dinner but probably too much wine. And Anders did have a hell lot more than me and just dropped dead on his bed.
Sebastian was really surprised that Anders made it out of bed the next morning, getting to the airport to catch a plane to Rottnest island. Rottnest island is an island on the coast of Perth, about 30 minutes by fairy. It's called that cause at some point in history (dunno when exactly) a Dutch discoverer landed on its shore. Exploring the island he found small rat like creatures living around the island, mistaking them for rats. Hence it's called 'the rats nest'. Of course the creatures were not rats but so called Quoakkas, marsupials from the kagaroo family. They're quite cute actually but also kinda filghty cause they would even eat vomit. Anywho... that's not my point, even though I'm sure that some of the people we spent the night with vomited here or there. ;)
Anders, Björn, Glenn, Judith and Karolina took the 'privat' plane to the island which of course was ten times faster than the busses that Sebastian and me took but also more expensive. When we finally arrived at the beach at 17.30 o'clock (which took us ages to find and to walk to) they had been there since 13.00 o'clock, laying in the sun and drinking heavily. With them were about 30 other people, mainly Norwegians, who were also mostly drunk. I swear, that one weekend of Norwegian is enough for a whole year. We just hung out at the beach, taking swims, drinking, talking, laughing and so on until the security showed up at some point, seeming quite pissed off that we were littering heavily (drunk Norwegians aren't the tidiest people). They told us to clean up and get the stuff into the bins, also not forgetting to mention that camping or sleeping on the beach was illegal and would be fined with about 100 dollars each. That said, our accommodation for the night was gone.
Since securty promised us to come back after sunset, we got a little scared and left at bout 22.00 o'clock, cleaning up as good as we could. Juditch, Karolina, Björn, Glenn and me walked up the steepest sand dune of all times, ready to go to sleep. Unfortunetly Anders and Sebastian were still enjoying themselves at the beach. However, some Norwegian guy named Thomas had offered us to stay at his place for the night and so Judith really didn't wanna have to pay a fine. It took us about 1 hour to get to his place, what should have taken us only 30 minutes but we kept losing the people we were supposed to follow and so we had to put in several stops. Nevertheless, we made it to his house. However, somehow word got around and about 20 other people decided to follow us. Drunk Norwegians are also very loud and ruthless and so it didn't take long until security showed up at Thomas' place, telling us off for not cleaning up the beach and for being too f**** noisy. That then resulted in everyone being thrown out of the apartment and the people who had rented it were threatened with having to pay a fine if they would have anyone sleep over.
Very pissed off and frustrated we all left the flat. Anders (agian) was the drunkest (and also the loudest) so we tried to get rid of him by splitting up into smaller groups, firmly convinced that the smaller and quieter a group was, the less potential it had to get caught. The simplest of all logics that we figured out that night and which shall be used on several more occasions. So Judith, Karolina, Sebastian and me started walking around, trying not to get caught by security. Apparently one was only safe when walking around. However, after about 30 minutes we decided to try out luck agian and headed back to the flat. We were let in and allowed to sleep on the floor. By now everyone was pretty dead and tired (except Anders) and we all looked for a spot to sleep. I was gonna take the couch, but was taught a bitter lesson cause it was right next to the porch where a few breave men kept drinking and screaming their heads off. Especially this one guy really started to piss me off cause he ended up getting the neighbours over three times and also drank my vodka, that I had in my backpack. I guess he just started going through everyone's bags to look for more alcohol. Luckily, he didn't have the whole bottle. Still, I couldn't really complain bout him cause he was the one letting us sleep over. And we even forgot to pay him money for it. (ooops)
The night was short and I only got about 2 hours of sleep on a cold and very hard floor. I guess that's also where I got the cold from that's slowly creeping onto me. We ended up packing our things quickly at 8.00 o'clock, kind of fleeing the 'crime scene'. We just wanted to get away from those people as quickly as possible. Apparently Anders hadn't slept at all, having drinking and singing contests with the whacky guy until 6.00 AM. Thank god I hadn't had that much to drink the night before or that morning would have been miserable. We all got breakfast (or those of us who were able to eat at all) and then decided to lay on the beach for a while. Our plane and fairy wasn't leaving until mid day and so we had another hour or two to sleep on the beach and recuperate a little. I actually slept for another hour. Felt like heaven. The sandy beach was such a nice break for my back.
The others left earlier than us, taking the plane back again and so Sebastian and me just sat for a while, talking and waiting for our fairy. The ride back home was the longest I had to ever take. Since it was Sunday, buses were going at different times and stopped running and so we had to take the biggest detour, which ended with walking across the whole campus. I was SOOOO tired, if Sebastian hadn't told me to get off the bus I would have taken it all the way til the last stop. Never doing that again.... We actually decided to go back to Rottnest. It's a beautiful place and we all didn't want that weekend to be our last memory of it. But next time there will be appropriate accommodation. Promise!

Handball, Presentations and Northbridge

I guess I'm at the point where writing my blog becomes somewhat of a struggle for me, hence I haven't been writing for almost 2 weeks. Or maybe for exactly 2 weeks. The problem here now is that I don't even remember all of what I did during those two weeks. However, that might also be a good thing, leaving me with not as much to write and those reading the blog with not as much to read (I've gotten complaints already).
So on Sunday two weeks ago I went to a wildlife park. Luckily Karolina had told me that there was trip organized by the uni. If she hadn't told me I wouldn't have found out about it. So I quickly went to the office and signed up, being the last person to be allowed on the bus cause the trip was full already. It only cost me 20 bucks and so on Sunday morning at 8.30 we met at the office and ticked our names, waiting to be driven to Guild house from where the big buses were supposed to start. We didn't leave uni until 9.00 o'clock, just standing around, waiting for all the other people to be driven to guild house (which is only 3 minutes away by car). One thing that made us worry was the bus driver who seemed to be drinking beer at 9.oo in the morning. Luckily he either wasn't drinking beer or he was able to contain himself, but we made it there in one piece, after a 30 minute drive. On the way there I had a nice talk with a Canadian girl called Sarah. She seems really nice and I hope to be hanging out with here at some point even though since Sunday we haven't really managed to do that.
I'm starting to blab again so here's the wildlife park in a nutshell. First thing we did when we got there is go see a 'Farm Show'. It sounded really boring and I expected to see a showe solely made for kids but it turned out to be cool. We saw a sheep being sheared, lambs being fed, cows being milked and dogs being trained. All in all it was an entertaining show. After the show (which took about 1 hours) we were allowed to go anywhere we wanted. We went to see the Wombats and other animals being held by volunteers and park rangers. We were allowed to touch some of them and sit next to them for pictures. I'm sure the majority has seen my pics on facebook already. After that, we went to the kangaroo bawn, where roos were walking, hopping and laying around freely. Most of them were actually laying cause it was so hot that day. They dug a shallow hole into the ground to get to the cooler sand (smart animals). There even were cans of food and one could take as much as wanted to feed the roos. Like any animal, roos are hoggish and so they came towards you quickly as soon as they found out you had food (so cute.. cause when you gave them your hand, they put both of their paws on it, as if they were trying to make sure you wouldn't pull away). We even saw an albino roo with a baby in its pouch. The baby didn't come out but we saw it moving in there. Kinda creepy actually. Then we walked around and saw all the other animals like tasmanian devils, owl, wallabees and more. We also pet koalas. There was about 15 sitting on logs, but most of them were asleep and you were only allowed to pet the ones that were awake. Koalas are the laziest animals in the world (even lazier than sloths) cause they sleep up to 20 hours a DAY! (well done).
After we pet the koalas it was time for lunch. They bought pizzas and subway sandwiches and even thought it seemed like it wasn't gonna be enough (we were about 70 people), it actually was and we all got bout 4 slices of pizza and one sandwich. After lunch we only had one more hour left and so we decided to go ride the camels. Now I can tell the story of how I rode a camel.. not in Jordan or Dubai or any other Arabic country... but in Australia. (it's the little things that will be remembered). We spent about 4 hours in total at the park and were brought back by 15.00 in the afternoon. Fun day.
The next week I didn't do much except for playing handball on Wednesday. Denise (the German girl who played handball in Germany for about 8 years) had arranged a 'come-and-try day' at the netball courts. Unfortunately, the gym is still being built and we will have to wait til it's done to be able to train inside. Hopefully, Denise will be able to get handball court lines drawn on the floor or else we will have to use the netball ones. Denise and I are actually gonna try to make handball more known and popular at Curtin, establishing a team and using the club for our PR project, where we will have to make a PR plan for a company or club of our choice. That's gonna be fun. I really start loving the courses here cause you just get to do much more fun stuff that is about 100 times more interesting than the shit we do at Lufbra.
So handball was fun. Not as many people showed up as expected but there were some people who've never played before and they were quite good. We just played around a bit, trying to figure out who had a feeling for the ball. It was fun but I also noticed that my stamina really is at its worst. I was thinking of joining the gym here but memberships are so fricking expensive. I guess I might start running a bit, just to stay in shape (or maybe just play handball and see what happens. Hopefully I won't get hurt).
On Thursday I had my Broadcasting presentation. Wendy (my partner) was freaking out because she had to print off some stuff last minute and she was so nervous. She is generally a very accurate person and wants to get the highest marks possible. I however am more laid back and am not aiming for 80 or 90 per cent. I think that was pissing her off a little bit. However, it went well and we ended up getting 70% on it, which I was fine with until Wendy said it was OK. That pulled me down and now I think we could have done better. Actually, tutors keep stressing that for group projects, you should get together with people who aim for the same grades as you so that no one gets disappointed or pissed off. I hope my other presentations are gonna go better. I actually already had another one for tradition of documentary which I think went really well. I will find out about my grade next week.
On Thursday nite I played handball again, this time at Murdoch university. Since we don't have our own training spot yet, we have to go to other places to play. Training was really tough for me. Ronny (a guy who has played for quite some time) was our trainer and he really shood us around the hall. I was SO dead at some point and got really frustrated cause I wasn't as good as I wanted to be. I get angry at myself easily if I loose a ball or just suck at the tasks I'm given. And with Denise trying to help me and telling me what to do I get even more pissed off, since she only seems to correct me. Then I get the feeling I suck even more. When I played handball in Germany, I was left to myself most of the time, not being able to improve. Our trainers were too young and they only paid attention to the better ones on our team, leaving those who weren't as good behind. I guess that was one reason why I quit. But playing now is just really good cause I DO love that sport a lot and when I play, doing sports is much easier for me than when I just run on the treadmill or something.
The next day I had the worst sore muscles ever. I was hardly able to move. But I think if I hadn't played on Thursday, it would have been worse. Luckily the soreness went away after just one day. On Friday night we went out to Northbridge. We were about 15 people in 4 cabs, meeting even more people we knew at the clubs. We did some pre drinking at Björn's and Glenn's place, and taking off to Northbridge at about 23.00 o'clock. The first club we went to was called 'The Deen'. It was cool but not too full. I actually liked that cause I hate when you can't move around the club or dancefloor properly, constantly bumping into people. We stayed there for about 2 hours, but then decided to go somewhere else. Most of the people we came with left early, but Sebastian and I didn't wanna go home yet and so we stayed for a couple of more hours. We met some other French and Mauritian guys we went with. We tried to get into some awesome place but couldn't since they wanted TWO forms of ID which pissed me off cause I only had my passport with me. But then we went to a place called Mustang. We only stayed there for bout 20 minutes cause they closed shortly after we got there. We then decided to go to a place called 'The Library'. It was cool cause they played the kind of music I like (mainly House... Northbridge generally is a good place for that music). There were actual books on the walls, making the place look like an old English library. However, after another hour in there we decided to take cabs home. I fell into bed at 5.30.
The following weekend I did nothing except for preparing my next presentation a bit. The on Monday I met up with Matt and Sophie, discussing how we should do all our stuff. I think Matt was pissed off cause I hadn't done much for it yet. He really wanted to get a very high mark. When we met up again on Wednesday, to do some last minute organization he seemed very nervous that I still didn't have all my shit together. However, the presentation turned out to be fine and Dick (our tutor) really seemed to like it. Also the class graded us well. For Documentary, students are also allowed to grade you, which is very good cause then it doesn't all depend on the tutor. I'm guessing we will get an 80% or something around that.
On Wednesday night I decided to go out and celebrate my well done presentation on Triumph of the Will (the Nazi propaganda movie from 1935). This time I didn't care that I had a 9.00 o'clock lecture the next morning and just wanted to have some fun (oh oh... I think my dad won't be too pleased with what I'm writing here). However, before I was able to go out, I had to wait for the flat meeting. Apparently, it was important. My flat didn't think so though, and in the end it was only Alex and me who showed up for it. They only told us about things that were happening, fire drills and security issues. There have been quite a few aboriginal attacks around and ON campus. It's usually younger guys in groups that ambush you out of nowhere, taking your money and beating you up. We learned that we are allowed to hit back but only with the same amount of force that they use as well. So if he beat me with his fists, I could only use my fists. But if he used his fists and I used a stick or metal pipe to defend myself, I could get into trouble. Also, pepper spray is illegal around here... That meeting REALLY worried me and pissed me off about the kinda regulations they have on those issues here. RIDICULOUS!
After the very useless but scary meeting, Sebastian came over and we had a funny conversation about all kindy of things with Alex. He really is a cool guy and I hope I will be able to go on a road trip with him during my easter break. He told me that he really wanted to do something but hadn't found people yet. And since he is only 20 he's not allowed to rent a car. I hope we can figure something out and really go on that road trip. Anyway, we just hung out here and had some fun talking. At 23.00 it was too late to go to the TAV so we decided to just go to Waterford for an hour (yes, it closed at 24.00 already... bullshit if you ask me). Waterford was fun this time. I guess my alcohol level made it more bearable . We had fun but I think 1 hour was about enough. We went home after that and even though I still wanted to do something, I ended up going to bed quickly.

OK, OK... I know that this entry got very long again but if you read this, I guess you also read the rest. HA!

The Rest Of The Week... In Another 20 Minutes

Thursday morning I had to get up early again to go to class at 9.00 o'clock. This time I sat next to Denise during the PR tutorial which was good cause I had someone to talk to. We went over some job ads, trying to find the perfect PR job. The only one I found interesting was the one for Google. Especially since a girl had told us that Google has the most awesome offices with giant bean bags and a letter shoot through the entire building. But I don't wanna go into PR anyway so I couldn't really be bothered. Then we got into groups for our tutorial presentations. Denise and me joined with some other girl whose name I forgot. Our task is to find an organization or company for which we have to write a PR program. Since Denise and I are both into Handball we decided it would be a nice project to pick. Especially cause not many people around here know it. The other girl said she would be fine with us doing handball but Denise and I could both feel that she didn't really like it. By the end of the class Denise and I decided to go to the tutor and ask her to put the girl into another group since there was another guy in the class who was into handball but who hadn't been there that morning. I hope it's all gonna work out cause I don't wanna seem like a bitch kicking that girl out of our group.
After the tutorial I was really hungry so Denise and I decided to go have breakfast at the cafe next to our next lecture building. She got a croissant and I got very yummy scrambled eggs on toast with bacon and a slice of grilled tomato. That was awesome and I am sure I will have that breakfast every Thursday from now own. Even though I should probably start saving some money. After the breakfast and a nice talk about this and that, we went to the lecture where two alumni from Curtin told us about their job as PR people for Curtin. It was quite interesting especially cause the girls were only a few years older than me. However, one of the girls wasn't a good presenter at all and I was very close to counting all the UHMs she used about every other sentence. After the lecture, we went to the lab to print out some stuff and send out some emails. I learned out to recharge my printing card and that the printers here are fricking fast, since they're laser and not ink printers. However, one page costs 11 cents, which is pretty expensive and so my credit was used up quickly. My next lecture wasn't for another hour but Denise had to go so we went to the cafe again to get her a coffee and a muffin for me. There we saw the girl working again, who Denise had suspected to be German. Her name was Janne and so I asked her where her name was from. She replied that it was Scandinavian but answered the question if she was Scandinavian as well with no. Turns out, she really was German. She told us that she was in Perth for work and travel and that she had been working in the cafe for 9 months now but would soon quit and go somewhere else, trying to get a permanent resident VISA. She was from Flensburg where she had done her bachelor's degree and apparently liked it here so much that she wanted to stay. I hope I will see her again cause she seemed like a cool girl.
After Denise left I sat down outside the cafe for a bit and read my report for the presentation I had to prepare. About 45 minutes later I went to my next class with was also my last for that day. Introduction to Broadcast was pretty interesting this time cause we discussed some things that I had to say some stuff to as well. We outlined where news stories come from, who makes them and how they are constructed if presented on the radio. Throughout the semester we will have to write 4 news scripts for radio presenters in which we have to write a news story in 90 words only, about 3 words per second. I think finding a story is gonna be harder than writing it cause it will have to be one that is worthy going on real radio news and it cannot be made up or anything. We also will have regular news quizzes involving local Perth, as well as National, International, Sports and Business news. From now on I will have to read the papers every day, memorizing all the stuff that happened in a week. The quizzes only have 10 questions, which I find ridiculous cause you really don't know what he's going to ask. They are worth 20% of the mark so I should be able to bump up my other grades with them if I get them right. Shouldn't be too hard though.
After the lecture Wendy and me asked our tutor some questions about the presentation making sure that we understood it all correctly. The presentation is worth 15% and if we nail it we can get an easy mark, especially since our tutor said that his class wasn't too tough. After that I think I went home and didn't do much for the rest of the day. I can't actually remember what I did which is kinda bad. I think I just went shopping at coles and got some mozzarella and basil to make the most delicious tomato-mozzarella salad ever. I finally found some good mozzarella cheese which also tasted like mozzarella. After my dinner I pretty much just watched Scrubs and went to bed. Or at least I think that's what I did.... I'm getting old. Terrible!
On Friday I got up at 11.00 and got ready for class, which I thought was at 12.00. However, when I got to the lecture theater and saw it packed of concentrated students, I still walked in and sat down but after I looked at my schedule I realized that the lecture at started at 11.00 and so I had missed 1 whole hour of it. I think I blushed a little when it finally clicked in my head. Nevertheless, I stayed til the end but it only lasted for another 20 minutes. So I went home again and decided spontaneously to go to the carousel mall on my own. So I looked up when the bus came and walked to the bus stop. The bus ride there actually took pretty long and the bus driver even scolded me for having my arm hanging out the window which was only my elbow really. When I got to the mall it was already 15.30 and I thought I had time to stroll around and go from shop to shop since I had seen online that the mall was supposed to be open until 21.00 that day. I went into a couple of stores I hadn't been in the last time I went with Sebastian (the mall is actually pretty big and so I hadn't seen all of it yet) but I didn't find what I liked. Then I went into Jay Jay's and ended up buying 4 shirts and a tank top for 32 Euros. I LOVE the exchange rate!!!
I walked around a little more and came across a pet shop where they had dogs sitting in the windows. They were SO cute and it was really sad to see the little space they only had to move around in. I wish I could have taken them all home right there and then. I am SO getting a dog when I love on my own! They also had bunnies, mice, rats, fish, kitties and parrots. i had to leave soon or else I would have cried seeing the animals all stuffed into their little cages. On my way back to the food court I noticed that stores started to close down. Apparently I misread the opening times but at least it got something out of it. So I walked back outside to the bus station and saw my bus driving away in front of my nose. When I read the bus schedule I noticed that it was the last bus and so I panicked a little bit not knowing how to get home. Then I remembered what Sebastian had told me about taking another bus to Curtin but walking across campus. So I took bus 72 and luckily got off the right stop which was on the other end of campus. I walked home and was proud that I had made it home alone. I guess those days are the best way to find alternatives.
When I got home I was going to make Spaghetti Bolognese and I was really looking forward to it. I was just checking my email when Chloe walked past my window and I invited her in. As she sat on my bed I got a text from Ram asking me if I wanted a ticket for the sold out beach bash that everyone was gonna go to that night. I said yes and got ready excitedly, cooking a quick dinner while I was putting on my makeup. The more my dinner cooked, the more my kitchen filled with Asians. Apparently my roomie was having a dinner party and had invited about 20 of her Asians friends. I got kind of annoyed cause they were just standing in my way, using my cutting board and stuff. However, I still managed to make my dinner and kinda gobbled it down. As soon as I was finished I get a text form Ram suddenly telling me that I couldn't go after all cause his friend who had wanted to give up his ticket suddenly changed his mind, leaving me without the chance to go. Even though Ram was really sorry and also offered me his ticket, I declined and just stayed in my room pissed.
After complaining to Chloe about Ram's assy behavior, she suggested to get something to drink and go play some pool in the common room. I agreed and so we went to get some white wine from the bottle shop. We played three rounds and I was amazed at how well I played. I don't know if it was the wine of the balls cause the first two times I played the full ones and I ruled but as soon as I played the halves I sucked. I don't even know who won cause a couple of times we got the black ball in without calling the pocket first, or someone else got it in. It was fun though. After the games we went outside and just walked around randomly not knowing what to do. On the way back to our rooms we walked past Björn's and Glen's (two Norwegians) place who invited us to sit with them. Both of the Emanuels, Anders, Sonja (a girl from Mauritius), Gaelle and the Russian (apparently Gaelle's boyfriend) were there too and Emanuel was just cooking dinner for all of them: Spaghetti Bolognese. We sat down and had a talk about this and that. Don't even really remember about what but it was pretty funny. For some reason Chloe then decided to get the book that I had taken out from the common room but had decided that it was absolute crap and leaving it on the garbage cans. It was called 1001 cool jokes. I don't know who had decided that those jokes were cool (I'm guessing it was the author) but they were actually utter bullshit. I admit that some of them were funny but the majority was just stupid and senseless, half of them being Knock Knock jokes.
So people started reading out some jokes, actually getting some laughter out of us. The funniest thing however was hearing Sonja laugh. She loved the book and thought it to be so hilarious that she was laughing constantly. The rest of the night was just as collection of Knock Knock jokes and made up Knock Knock jokes about sea weed and such. At some point I got so annoyed that I threw the book in the bushes, leaving Sonja kinda sad. She swore that she was gonna get the book back and even tried to bribe me with a pancake she had made to make me get it. I tried but it was so far in the bushes that I couldn't even see it. I hope it stays there too even though the pancake was delicious enough to make me feel bad that I had thrown it away. At about 1.00 everyone got tired and so we split up. I was pretty beat so I watched a little bit of Iron Man and went to sleep.

The Week In 5 Minutes... Or Maybe 20

So after the weekend was actually pretty shitty and very uneventful I kinda lost interest and bock to keep writing. I guess I'm going shorter anyways since days start being the same and nothing really new is happening. This entry combines Monday til Thursday and one.
Monday was just as shitty as the weekend. Stores were closed cause of labour day and I had a day off and really nothing to do except for a meeting with Wendy, my presentation partner for Intro to Broadcast and who isn't as dumb as I thought. We met at the library at 14.00 and after I got a coffee and fries for breakfast (I know) we sat down so I could finish them in the cafeteria which is inside the library (kinda like in Lufbra but they have more food and drinks there). We started discussing how we would go about the interview we have to conduct (and which will be tomorrow) and how to plan the presentation in general. After I finished my fries we went upstairs to look for a book essential for the content. It took us nearly 15 minutes to find the location of one stupid book cause first, the pcs were mindnumbingly slow and sometimes it took 20 seconds until a page was properly loaded... and cause we apparently kept looking for the wrong words but the book wouldn't pop up. Then, when Wendy FINALLY found it (after having gone through a list of 100 books) we noticed that the authors were written wrong on the sheet we had gotten in the lecture. Kind of pissed off... However, we were happy that we found it and so we went to look for it in the shelves. The system is sort of the same as in Lufbra even though a little more confusing. Generally, the library here isn't as well stacked as Pilkington and many books only have one copy which is why most of the students buy their essential reading for 100s of bucks. I'm still trying to get around that by photocopying chapters, loaning them (if they're actually available) or by sharing some with friends. Which reminds me that I still owe Denise 25 bucks.
After we got the books (there were actually 3 copies for this one :D) we tried to find a place to sit down and discuss further procedures. It was only the second week but EVERYone seemed to be studying like crazy cause the library was packed and it took us another 10 minutes until we finally found a booth to sit it. However, we had to be fairly quiet since it was on the quiet floor and the guy next to us actually hushed us at some point (there were holes on the top of the dividers so he could hear anything we said loud and clear. They should install sound proof booths in the library... maybe I should suggest that to someone). However, we discussed the outline of the presentation, finalized some of the quesitons we wanted to ask and decided later that it would be best to go home and do our readings there. I was going to take notes on the report we had to discuss and she was going to do the reading in the book. So we parted ways at bout 16.00 and I went home.
For the rest of the day I was just sitting around stupidly, watching stuff online and chatting with friends. I don't even really remember what I really did. At some point I tried to text bout 20 people to see what they were doing. Some still haven't replied. I invited Sebastian over to watch a movie and so 1 hour later he came and we watched Beetlejuice, one of the weirdest movies ever made. But then again, it's a Tim Burton film and he is screwed up in the head anyways. But I'm really looking forward to the new Alice in Wonderland version he's shooting right now where Johnny Depp is playing the Mad Hatter. That movie is gonna be sick. After we were finished with the film I got ready for bed. And as I was taking of my pants I noticed red spots all over my right thie and my left arm. They were itching like hell and first I thought that it was mosquito bites but it was weird how I didn't really have bites on my left leg. When I went to a pharmacy the next morning they looked at the bites and said that it could have been bedbugs too. Creepy.
On Tuesday I got up early for my Advertitzing tutorial which was interesting cause we had to work out the ad for the new product again (I wrote about that last week). We did that pretty much all class and by the end I joined up with 3 other girls for our presentation (they're all Asian... which is no wonder cause half the international students are from Asia). After the tutorial I decided to skip the Broadcasting lecture and drove into the city instead (on my own). I had decided I needed something new so I made an appointment at the hair dresser to get a cut. It was at 15.00 so I had some time before that to just walk around and do some shopping. I actually tried to look for a bathing suit but didn't find one... AGAIN. -.- I think I'm gonna give up on that already. Cause really, I don't wanna go to an oversize store. Please! OoBut I did find new headphone for my iPod. My other one's I had bough on ebay broke pretty quickly and so I couldn't hear properly on the right plug. But they were only 5 bucks anyway.
So at 15.00 I went to the hair salon and was seated quickly. It wasn't full cause you had to make appointments anyway. She asked me what I wanted but I didn't know except for something new and shorter. So she just thought for a bit and then started cutting. It turned out nice especially cause she blowdried it and put products in my hair. I felt pretty good when I left the place. Problem is, that you NEVER get it the way they do it for you and since I don't even have a blowdryer here, my hair will just annoy me again. I think only really short hair is easy to handle even though even THAT doesn't always do what you want. Vicous cycle. (Does that make sense with the two evens in there? Who knows...)
After the cut I went home even though I managed to not notice that the train I took (it was the right line) didn't stop at the place I had to take the bus from so when I got off one stop later I found myself somewhere strange. I had to take a train back INTO perth but finally made it to Canning Bridge where the bus took off in front of my face. The next one came 10 minutes afterwards but it still sucked. Back at home I didn't do much except get Chinese food and some other stuff at Coles on the way back. I think then I didn't feel too well so I had to wait until my stomache got better to eat dinner (I hadn't eaten since that morning). Meanwhile I did laundry and tried to get rid of my bedbugs. At some point I ate, watched Keinohrhasen (which really is a cute movie) and then a little bit of Ironman and just went to sleep.
On Wednesday I was able to sleep in really late since I only have one lecture from 14.00-17.00. It's the only 3 hour lecture in the most uncomfortable room with plastic chairs and the little folding tables but I think I already mentioned that. So I slept in, had breakfast and went to class where I met Sophie, my presentation partner from the last tutorial. We talked a little and it was nice to also have someone to talk to during the lecture from time to time and not sit there completely alone. The lecture was interesting as always, but just too long. The guy is enthusiastic and all and can explain things well and the films he shows us are good too, but 3 hours in one piece is just exhausting. And now that my tutorial on Thursday got moved to 16.00 I have to attend the one right after class which makes it 4 hours in a row. I guess it's not as hard as a boring lecture.
The tutorial was also pretty alright but we first had to figure out groups for presentations and who does what in which week. That took longer than it should have and I got kinda pissed off cause people just wouldn't help it go quicker. Then we had our first presentation given which was about the 9/11 attack. The girl showed us a documentary called 'Who really attack America' and based on that explained that docus don't represent truth but rather an interpretation of truth. I have to find that docu again somewhere and watch it whole cause we were only able to see the first 7 minutes.
After the lecture I went home and got ready to go out. Wednesday is the night everybody goes out. At some point Chloe came by my window and I let her in. First time she's been to my room. We just talked for a bit while I got ready trying to get volume into my hair which is gonna be a major part of my day from now on (the volume part I mean). Then we went outside and waited for Ram to pick me up. He was bout 15 minutes late and we walked up to the Tav (he brought 2 friends of his). The Tav was packed. It was toga party this time so half of the people had wrapped themselves artfully into whatever was suitable for a toga. Most of the time it turned out to be bedsheets. Some of them even had little bears or other things on it. Ram bought be a drink and so we just stood around for a little and danced to the fairly good music. However, as soon as the DJ started playing old school Hip Hop I lost interest and so we ended up leaving after bout 1 hour.
We walked across campus down to the Waterford pub, where pretty much everyone goes that night as well. Having arrived there we suddenly saw police cars around and Emanuel sitting on the ground trying to cool his face with ice wrapped in a towel. We soon found out that someone (or more around 15 Aborigines) has beaten him and two friends of his up randomly. They had just walked to the pub and were suddenly attacked for no reason. Luckily Emanuel wasn't too bad but his friend was bleeding out of his ears. Turns out that he had a slight concussion and was able to get a few days off from uni. I was pretty shocked watching Emanuel being questioned by security and by the police. I couldn't really do anything and even saying I was sorry felt like shit. At some point Ram decided it would be best to go inside and get distracted since we couldn't help anyone anyway. However, I had lost my mood to party and decided to walk home with Emanuel, Glen, Björn and the rest of the people.
When we came back to campus I bumped into Chloe who was also very concerned to hear that someone she knew had been beaten up for no reason. I stayed outside the office for a little bit cause Emanuel was being examined by the campus nurse. He only had a couple of bruises and a minor cut on his forehead but other than that he was fine. However, he was just starting to sober up and so the pain kicked him, leaving him moaning. He soon went to bed and I then did too, trying not to think about that it could have been us who was beaten up.

I Can't Wait For The Weekend To Begin

Saturday was a pretty lame day. The whole weekend was actually not so eventful. All I did on Saturday was go to the Carousel Mall with Sebastian to get pots, pans and plates for cheap. At night I stayed in and watched Desperate Housewives and Lola Rennt. Saturdays is usually a quiet day here at Curtin cause apparently Friday is THE day to go out. I also skyped with Egle and she told me how cool Prague was. Apparently she met many very cool people who she is already good friends with. I'm still looking and I decided that it would be easier for me to stick to the Europeans cause I just get along with them better. I guess for that Prague would have been a great place to go to. Oh well... No I'm here and I'm gonna try to make my time worthwhile. I can still go to Prague some other time but Australia is a chance I don't get for long.
Besides the slight depression Sebastian, Linus (some Swedish guy) and I went to the outlet mall on Sunday. First we weren't gonna go cause Sebastian didn't really wanna run around the mall for hours and look for clothes, which had been my plan for the day. He had suggested to go to the beach again but Rohan's car was full and I guess he didn't wanna take the long trip by bus and train again. Actually, he was pretty iffy today anyway. So was I actually... It was too humid and hot today and I guess our brains were melting, along with our motivation to do anything. However, we ended up going to the mall but only spent 1.5 hours there. I walked around on my own as Sebastian went looking for shoes and Linus left pretty quickly cause he wanted to be back in time to play soccer at 16.00 o'clock. Even though I searched bout 10 stores I didn't find anything I really liked and what I tried on was too small or looked weird. I still don't get the dress sizes but all the stores seem to only have pants going up to size 14 which I looked up just now and in European that's a 40. So apparently I'm an 18 here, even though an Australian 14 KINDA fit me... I have no clue how I'm supposed to find fitting pants in this place. I might have to go to an oversize store which would be mostly embarrassing for me. I hope I will find some store at some point to avoid that shame or I just won't buy pants here at all. Let's hope sizes for swimsuits are different or I'm gonna have to spend my entire holiday without going in the water.
So I ended up leaving without anything even though there was an outlet store selling converse shoes for bout 45 Euros whereas they usually are 70 Euros in Germany. I'm definately gonna go back there and see if I can find some clothes and I will probably buy a pair of converse at some point. Mine are bout to fall apart and already have holes in them.

Wein Und Bier, Das Lob Ich Mir. Bier Und Wein, Das Lass Ich Sein

I'm gonna start this entry off with saying something I forgot to mention in the previous one. Gas is SO fricking cheap here. One liter only costs 1.15 AUS which is bout 58 Eurocents at the current exchange rate and I would say about 40 pence. I'm seriously thinking of renting a car during the two weeks of easter break we get and just drive around for a while, looking at the whole of Western Australia. There's supposed to be many nice places one should see and if I rented a car with someone else, it would really be much cheaper than a flight. However, we don't know yet how things are with the German lisence and if things are easily transferrable. I will hopefully find out soon so I can plan my holidays. Many people I've talked to have already decided what they are gonna do so I think I'm a bit late. We'll see.....
So back to the Friday. I only had one class on Friday at 11.00 o'clock: the adervtizing lecture. It was really hard for me to get out of bed that morning and I almost just layed in but then I decided to go anyway. I just didn't take a shower so I could stay in bed a couple more minutes. It took me quite a while to find the lecture hall until I noticed that I already knew where it was but had never noticed it. That's one thing I hate bout maps: I cannot read them (or at least not as well as others). If someone told me where it was I would get there much easier. Oh well.. now I know where everything is and getting there won't take as much time anymore.
The class was pretty interesting cause the lecturer (a highly pregnant woman) showed us video clips and examples of commercials so we would understand her points better. I have a feeling that teaching is much better and easier to understand here. Or I guess I just chose the right units. Even though it was interesting, it also was pretty long and by the end of the lecture I rather texted than really paying attention. Also, I was pretty tired so it was hard for me to focus anyway.
Right after the lecture, Sebastian told me that Rohan (his roommate) was gonna go to the beach by car and that there was one more spot in the car. I spontaneously decided to come with since I didn't have anyhting else to do that day. Unfortunately Rohan didn't know the way and the direction he got off Google Maps took us on the biggest detour. However, after bout 45 minutes we made it to Cottesloe beach. Sebastian, Rohan and Jacob (another one of Sebastian's roommates) went to take a dip in the water right away. Since I still don't have a swimsuit or anything of that sort, I decided to just lay in the sand and read my German magazine. I've been trying to find an Australian equivalent to Glamour or something similar but every magazine seems to be twice as expensive here. I guess I will have to stick to books. I brought two and they're still untouched. But one of them is P.S. I love you and I don't really feel like reading that cause it would make me sad.
So after the boys came back from their swim, they laid down for a bit as well. Rohan however seems to be pretty restless and so quickly he decided to take a walk. It was his first time to the beach and he wanted to have a look I guess. After he came back he suggested to go to Scarborough beach (the second to next one up) to go surfing. So we packed up and got in the car. This time Sebastian was the navigator and we got to Scarborough pretty quickly where Rohan got his surfboard right away and Sebastian and Jacob went for a swim again. I stayed on land again but took some pictures of the many kitesurfers around the beach. It was pretty fun watching them cause it looked amazing how they surfed along the water so fast. I wonder how the control their kites. Must be pretty tough. Sebastian also loved the kitesurfers and soon put the idea into his head of definately trying it. He asked some random kitesurfer how much lessons would be and after he found out that they were really expensive and one also had to get the equipment, he kinda lost interest.
We only stayed for bout 45 minutes and then decided to head home at bout 17.00 o'clock. Sebastian took over the map again and lead us on the right track. However, we soon got into the rush hour traffic and what should have taken us 30 minutes, ended up taking 1 hour. We also almost crashed several times cause Rohan is quite the racer and he seemed to not really listen to what Sebastian was saying, so that we had to change lanes last minute more than once. Luckily we made it back to campus in one piece and all went to get ready for the KV dinner. There was gonna be Kangaroo Curry so everyone was pretty excited. When I got to the common room at 19.00 o'clock there was the longest line. The doors hadn't opened yet and more and more people were queing up. I found Sebastian and just stood with him, skipping about 20 or more people. However, I wasn't feeling all too well since I'd been having a headache ever since we went to Scarborough.
They had Curry, Sushi, Pizza, Lasagna, Salad, Chicken Wings and Prawns for dinner and one could take whatever (s)he wanted. I didn't get too much but of course had to try the curry. It was pretty yummie and the meat was similar to beef but with a little special taste to it. Everybody sat down wherever they found space and so people also sat on the floor or the stairs to eat their food. Aftewards, there was gonna be a movie but people left pretty quickly and even icecream didn't convince anyone to stay. At some point there were 2 people watching the film but they also left quickly. I sat down with Anders, Sebastian, Emanuel and some other guy (who was the MOST annoying to me cause he wouldn't let people finish talking... EVER) and we had some wine, listeting to music from Anders' laptop. Sebastian also got me an aspirin and so I started feeling better. Since Mugun had invited us to a party over at Vickery house we finished our drinks and then headed there with Judith (a girl from Vienna) and Ben (an American guy from Ohio if I remember correctly). Anders stayed in KV and had a chat with that annoying guy.
When we got to Vickery we first stopped at some other party that was going on there but soon people left to go clubbing. We didn't go cause we all didn't have money or passports on us so we headed to the other party that was just next door. It was just a bunch of people hanging around, chatting and drinking. It was pretty fun cause people were nice and interested in you (more or less) and everyone seemed to be wanting my number. I guess everyone was a little drunk. Mugun and Raymond ended up being too drunk and so by the end of the night some 'collateral damage' had to be cleaned up and people had to be schlepped home. Soon after the party was over and Sebastian and me decided to walk back home. I fell into bed drunk and fell asleep...

Classes, Handball and Bratwurst

The next morning I had to peel myself out of bed cause I had 9.00 o'clock classes. It was the worst cause I had only had bout 4 hours of sleep. But somehow I made it and so I went to my first PR tutorial. There was quite a few people there that morning and we did the basic procedure of going over the unit outline. At some point that really start to piss you off cause all you're told is what you have to do not to fail, what assignments are due when, etc. But you also introduce yourselves to your tutor during the first class (or actually during the entire first week) so they know a bit about you. Tutorials are every week (unlike at Lufbra) and you go over the material covered in the lectures, discussing assignments and projects. The tutors even give you their personal details so you can contact them any time you have a problem with the work. I find that pretty cool cause you can get a lot more help from them to get the best possible mark. If people take that help is a different issue. I'm also a person who doesn't really like bugging the teachers about every little problem. I guess I learned that from German school where tutoring cost a hell lot of money (even if given by the teachers) and they taught you to be as independent as possible.
After the tutorial I met Denise, the German girl who is in charge of the Curtin Handball team. She was actually sitting in the same tutorial but I didn't recognize her at first. Denise came to Australia as a backpacker but met her current boyfriend in Perth. She then decided to stay here after she had seen how he studied at uni, which apparently she liked better than German unis and so she moved here to do her degree at Curtin. I find that pretty impressive. I think I wouldn't dare to do that. We had a talk for a bit but she had other classes to go to so she left. I decided to sit down at a cafe which is close to the next lecture hall I had to go to, have some coffee and do the reading for the afternoon tutorial in tradition of documentary. The first bit was pretty interesting and I read through it quickly. I later found out that the second chapter which I also read wasn't assigned for this week but for the following. Well, I won't have to do the reading now then.
The next lecture was also PR (so every Thursday I have the tute before the lecture). I met Denise again and we sat down together. The lecture was pretty interesting and the lecturer (a women who has worked for PR) was alright to listen to. It was just too long and by the end I found it hard to concentrate. I guess even though it says on the timetable that lectures are only 1 hour, lecturers often go for 1.5 hours. Also, all of the lecturers seem to be experts in their job so they come to Curtin to lecture. It's not like they hire scholars but rather experts who know their stuff.
After the lecture Denise and me decided to get some food. We walked to the Tav, where there is a Kebab shop right next door. I got a chickenkebab which wasn't too bad but the bread was way to chewy. Denise and I had a nice talk about the difference between Germany and Australia and she also invited me to come to play handball at Scarborough beach that night. I happily said yes. Since she had classes again, she left pretty soon.
I then decided to sit down at Henderson Court and do the rest of the reading (which we didn't discuss at all during that later tutorial). I sat there for about 45 minutes and then went to my next tutorial for introduction to broadcasting. When I got there the room was already full and the table were arranged pretty shitty cause they were grouped instead of in rows. I sat down where I found space but had to sit with the back to the blackboard. When the tutor came in I was quite surprised. He seemed only about 2-3 years older than me and he was pretty hot at that. ;)
He told us that he worked for ABC tv and also did some online radio stuff. (Again, another inside man). Once more, we started the tutorial off with everyone saying a little bit about themselves including name, what we studied and why we chose journalism (the unit was part of the journalism stream). I forgot all the names right there and then. After the intro we went over the unit outline (AGAIN). I got bored pretty quickly but he also gave us some important info that was not on the outline. Then we paired up for the presentations and already set all the dates. Mine is already in 2 weeks on commercial radio and I'm doing it with a chinese chick called Wendy. Luckily she's from Perth and speaks good English. I actually have to start doing some stuff already. Another good thing about Curtin is that unit grades are composed of quite a few things so when you fuck up one it doesn't entirely destroy you overall grade. You can take quizzes, exams and tests plus tutorial presentations (everyone has to do one on the topic discussed in the lecture) and essays. I think I will have to write essays for each unit but at least they don't all count 100% like for AJ last year.
Right after the broadcasting tutorial I had the tute for documentary. Luckily it was in the same building just a few rooms down the hall. Since we had finished early I grabbed some chocolate and diet coke from the vending machine and sat outside for a bit, regaining my energy (which was pretty low all day since I hadn't slept much anyway. I guess I won't be going out too much on Wednesday nights. Which still sucks cause that's whene everyone else goes out -.-). The documentary tute was pretty small (only 10 people but apparently there should have been 22) and we spent the first half discussing whether or not the tute should be moved from 17.00 to 16.00 o'clock the same day. Apparently there's a problem with the tute spaces and times and there's only 2 tutes for 50 people. Even though the unit coordinator came to discuss with us we couldn't reach a conclusion since quite a few people including me cannot do the tute at 16.00. We will be getting an email bout it soon and I hope it can be all sorted out quickly.
Then again we went over the unit outline but this time it was even more painful cause all the tutor did was read it out to us. We wasted a major amount of time and didn't discuss any of the reading at all (I was quite annoyed by that... but the tutor seemed incompetent anyway). Luckily the tutorial was only 1 hour and so I left for home quickly. There I got changed into Handball clothes and started writing my blog a little until Denise called to tell me to go outside so she can pick me up with the car. We were already late so we headed to the beach right away. Along the way we had a nice talk about this and that. She really is a nice girl.
The ride took bout 30 minutes and when we finally got to the beach we were late for 5 minutes. Apparently everyone had been waiting for us cause as soon as we got there, some guys went to get the goals and the lining (which consisted of plastic thingies that were secured in the sand with metal hooks). It took about another 20 minutes until we started playing. It wasn't practice but rather playing just for fun. I was a bit confused about the rules at first cause apparently you only have 4 players (including the goalie) but you can have two goalies who can switch and go all the way up to offense. There's also no dribbling (you couldn't do it on the sand anyway) and the half circles on a regular field are just lines on the sand. The field is about half the size of a normal one as well. I had quite some fun playing but running in the sand is a thing I wouldn't reccommend unless you wanna get quite some excercise. We played in guys and girls teams and since there were more guys there was 2 guy teams. We played each other until we didn't want to anymore. So after bout 1 hour we packed up again.
The majority of the people there were Europeans (Swiss, Danish, German, Norwegian) who had moved to Perth permanently or who were there for quite a while to work. One of the guys (he was Australian) was having a BBQ that night so he invited all of us over. After some thinking Denise decided to go and so we drove to the guy's place. There we found that he had gotten German Bratwurst and some Sauerkraut. I guess he wanted to do us a favor. We ate the Bratwurst with hotdog buns which tunred out to be quite yummie. Also, it was free food afterall and I had been starving. Unfortunately the Bratwurst (even though it was from a German place) was missing the spices again (just like the one at Fremantle market), but it was still good. We stayed for bout 1 hour, just having dinner, talking and playing some FIFA 09 on the playstation. At some point it was Perth Glory againt Eintracht Frankfurt. The guy playing Perth was better and so Frankfurt lost 0-2.
Since Denise had been up all day, she was very tired and also wanted to get home to her boyfriend so we decided to leave early. On the way back she had to get gas and so we stopped at a gas station, where she chose the wrong (or so she thought) gas type. She panicked and called her boyfriend but it turned out that she had only chosen Premium Unleaded instead of the normal Unleaded which she used to put it every other time. It was actually quite funny to see her freak out about it cause I already knew that it wasn't a big problem. We had a laugh about it afterwards. Denise dropped me off at my place and after I got home I was so tired that I skyped with Pati shorty and then went to bed right away. Afterall, I had stayed up from 9.oo o'clock on and was running around all day.

Somebody In Kansas City Loves Me

So Wednesday was my second day of classes. My one and only class I had that day didn't start until two o'clock but it was gonna be 3 hours long (the longest class of my life). So I was able to sleep in and really take my time getting ready in the morning/afternoon. Luckily, the building was pretty close to my place so it only took me 10 minutes to get there this time (as opposed to 20) but it took me another 10 minutes to find the entrance of the building. I still don't know the shortcuts and all yet so I guess once I do I will be able to leave my house 5 minutes before classes start and still be one time. The room was pretty full but the lecture itself wasn't too big. But they had those stupid plastic chairs with the folding tables with only go about half way so sitting in those exposed to be rather difficult and uncomfortable. Especially when you have to spend 3 hours in them.
The class is called 'Tradition of Documentary' which covers the history and development of the documentary, the different kinds that exist and the relationship of the producer or director with the audience, meaning how much truth and authenticity the documentary actually has and what sort of things alter such. It was very interesting and I think I will really enjoy that course but really... a 3 hour lecture is way too long (even with the 15 minute break we got). I guess it's so long because they show us pieces of documentaries in every lecture to make the point. So YAY... free TV watching. I was actually first gonna take 'History of Screen Language' which is about films in the same sort of manner, but that was full so I took the documentary one instead. I think it's cool since I like watching them and find interesting how they are constructed and such. But I don't wanna go off on that cause it's probably only interesting for me. ;)
So after the 3 hours and after rescheduling my appointment with Curtin FM, the local radio station, I went back home and met up with Sebastian, Anders and Priscilla. There was supposed to be a BBQ that night but since it was pouring rain all day they decided to cancel it. So Sebastian suggested to have dinner together instead. We walked to Coles and decided last minute to make Lasagne. We spent about 40 minutes in the supermarket not being able to get all the things we needed together and I had some last minute ideas as well and was running around the store like a beheaded chicken. Stores close really early here sometimes and if you don't know the supermarket well you can start panicking a little bit.
When we finally got all we needed (or so we thought) we realized that we didn't have enough minced meat. Priscilla had told us that she still had some in the freezer of which she thought would be enough for us all. Turns out it wasn't. Luckily one of Sebastian's housemates had extra meat and so we kinda stole his and made the Lasagne anyway. While it was in the oven I quickly went over to my place (1 minute away from Sebastian's) and freshened up a little bit, since we had decided to go to the Tav that night after we had had dinner. Wednesday is THE night to go out at especially when going to the Tav cause that's when they have cheap beer and such (not so good for me since I don't drink it... but whatever. Wine isn't that expensive either). So we ate the lasagne, which was pretty good. I was proud that I didn't ruin the Béchamel sauce even though I made it for the first time. The noodles were a bit uncooked but we had to take it out since the cheese had already started to burn. Funilly enough, when you melt the mozzarella (which originally tastes like Gouda) it starts tasting like the mozzarella I know. Funny country...
So after we had yummie dinner and I had about 2 glasses of my birthday red wine, we headed to the Tav. We first picked up some Canadian people down the street and then took the courtesy bus, which is a bus going around campus at night to take the students who have late night classes or who stayed at the library to study, to their student housing. The Tav wasn't too full or at least not as full as last time I was there, which was the Wednesday the week before. (OMG I've been here for 2 weeks now). They played cool house music but no one was really dancing except the people standing on the edge of the dancefloor (us) who were just goofing around. We got some drinks (I got wine) and then we met some other guys we knew (mainly Swedes) who we stood and danced with for a bit. We didn't stay too long and actually left bout 1 hour later because everyone had decided to head to the Waterford pub (across the street of my place) where Wednesdays is karaoke night.
So we walked down there and found the place not to be too crowded which was good cause I don't really like crowded places too much (I think I got that from my mom). Priscilla must feel even worse cause she's only bout 1.40 m and can't see shit except people's asses and stomaches. So we got drinks once more and went outside to one of the two terraces. At first it was kinda cool cause we met Anders (who hadn't come with us to the Tav) and some other people we knew. However, at some point my buzz started to die and I got pretty bored. I decided that I don't really like that place which is actually kinda good cause then I won't have to go there anymore. I have 9.oo classes the next day anyway. So we left at 23.50 which is about 10 minutes before the place closed (sometimes I feel like I'm back in Lufbra) and walked home together (Priscilla and me that is). Before I went to bed I watched some more Ratatouille and fell asleep pretty quickly.

But I Would Walk 500 Miles, And I Would Walk 500 More

Unfortunatly I had an early one on Tuesday morning and for some reason the night seemed to be especially hot and humid. I wasn't able to sleep pretty much all night and was woken up by singing birds at 7.00 in the morning (maybe they wanted to apologize for not singing me a song on my birthday). So without much sleep I got up at 9.00 and took a shower and got ready. I had a tutorial to attend at 10.00 for which the lecture is on Friday. What I don't seem to understand (but I've been told different) is that sometimes tutorials are BEFORE the lecture but you STILL have to attend them. Being a good student and all I did go to the Advertizing tutorial which turned out to be pretty ok. We didn't really do much but introduce ourselves by name, major, hobbies and the biggest risk we had ever taken. There was one guy (whose name I forgot again) who apparently had already had a gun held in his face cause he had been wasted on vacation, breaking someone's scooter who then called the police. You would think I'd remember the guy's name who tells a story like that but NO... I'm 22 now. No space for stuff like that.
We also got an assigment to do for next week which involved making an ad for new things or inventions which should be introduced to the Australian market. Those inventions included jeans from Miss Sixty which contained little capsules on the inside of the fabric, and which, when touched while walking would open and then free lotion against cellulite. Apparently the jeans is supposed to help you against cellulite if you just wear it. I thought it was bullshit but we had to advertize it anyway. Another invention was dog yoga for the stressed city dog or a handheld machine which interpreted a dog's barking and made it into a text message then sent to the owner so that (s)he knew what was wrong with the pet. I guess the teacher wanted to make it as interesting and challenging as possible. Our group (we were split up into 3s and 4s) had the jeans campaign. I guess our slogan is: let the pants do the work. (wahay!)
Being pretty hungry from not having had breakfast that morning, I went to the Tavern to get brunch. I felt weird sitting there all by myself but I was hungry, so I did. Then I walked back home cause my next lecture wasn't until 14:00. Back home I watched Desperate Housewives again (that show is getting pretty ridiculous but I LOVE it!). At 13.30 then I walked back to campus and went to the lecture for Intro to Broadcasting. The lecture theater wasn't too full but apparently there was some dumbasses (especially the girls sitting behind me) who were sitting in the wrong class and left loudly laughing and chatting. The lecture was pretty boring cause it was more about general uni stuff than anything from the syllabus and I was writing stuff in my diary the entire time rather than listening.
The lecture was over after 1 hour and I gladly left. I got myself a coffee from the library, after wandering around for a little but not knowing where I was (my sense for orientation is STILL shit. Even with 22). Then I walked home where I changed bags and got my camera. 5 minutes later I met up with Anders and Sebastian and we took the bus into Perth to Canning Bridge station (the one whose name I kept forgetting). There we changed to the train and rode into Perth city. We got off at Esplanade and showed Anders the Swan River and the skyline. It was his first time in Perth today. On the way into the city we passed a big grass field where there were about 100 white birds picking the ground. At first we thought it was pigeons but after having had a closer look we discovered that it was all parrots. I don't know if they had escaped from the zoo or if they naturally live around the city but it was pretty cool seeing that many parrots in one spot.
So then we walked around a bit, taking pictures here and there and showing Anders the inner city. After having gotten a map from the tourist info we decided to take the bus up to King's Park, the biggest city park in the world (it's bigger than Central Park). The bus ride took about 20 minutes. From the bus stop we walked another 10 minutes into the park. It was beautiful! There aren't many flowers or such but very awesome trees! It was almost like the Palmengarten in Frankfurt. Appatently thy city had planted many different bushes and trees in the park to preserve the natural habitat and no tree looked like the other. But most of them were awesome for putting tree houses in them. Sometimes I wish I could live in a tree house, since I never had one as a child. Would be SO awesome!
So we walked around the park for a while until we got to THE spot. Beautiful view over almost all of Perth and the Swan River. From there most of the postcard and tourist pictures are taken. Some are uploaded on facebook and there's one included in the blog as well which shows the Perth skyline from up there. We fooled around with the camera for a bit and took some very nice photos. Sebastian has most of them but I hope to get them soon and upload them on facebook.
After about 2 hours of walking around we all got pretty hungry and decided to walk back into the city. We took a very steep road downhill which seemed to be popular among the sports people. Every minute there was another sporty person passing us, running up the hill. It was pretty much as steep as the San Francisco roads so I imagine that it can be a very tough workout. One I will not try while I'm here... I think I will stick to Handball (which hasn't started soon but I'm really looking forward to it). When we got to Perth we walked around for another 30 minutes trying to find a suitable place to eat which wasn't too expensive and didn't serve shit like McDonald's or KFC. I don't know if we picked the wrong day but the ENTIRE city seemed to be shut down. Stores closed, doors shut and lights off. All of us (and especially me) got very frustrated walking around for ages trying to find food. By now our feet hurst cause we had been walking for the entire day.
At the main place we ran into someone Sebastian knew from a city tour he had done earlier. That guy told us that the side of the city we were on was completely closed and that we should cross the main train station and go to Northbridge (THE partying spot in Perth). After having walked up and down about 300 stairs we finally get to Northbridge (quite the sketchy place where you don't wanna walk alone after dark). We then finally found a Chinese place which we were just about to enter when we read that it was closed also. At this point I am really pissed off just wanting to sit down at least. But then we saw this small Pizzeria place. It didn't look too inviting but we sat down anyway. After all they had pizzas for only 13.50 AUS (which is 6.80 Euros). We all got one and I tell you: it was worth the wait! The best pizza I've had in ages. Paper thin dough, with fresh ham and mushrooms. Real Italian pizza. Apparently the place was famous for its pizza because the whole windows were plastered with newspaper articles about the place and there was also pictures showing the owner with the pope. Some of them looked like they were photoshopped but it didn't matter cause the pizza was awesome! I guess for every bad, there is a good! We would have never found that place if Perth city wasn't closed.
After our pizzas the waitress who also seemed to be the owner 'made' us get home-made tiramisu which also came with home-made icecream. YUMMIE! And the whole thing only cost us 11 Euros each. Will have to go there again. Now we know where the good stuff is. We then went home pretty quickly, catching the last train. And since I've been back I've been sitting here writing the blog. I think from now on I will not write blogs as frequently any more and make them maybe a little bit shorter. It seems like I'm writing whole essays here and I gotta save that for the ones that count...
Now I'm going to bed. I've got a three hour lecture tomorrow (which is luckily from 14.00 - 17.00 so I will be able to sleep in) and then I gotta go party. People decided, since they didn't stick around for my birthday, that tomorrow will be my second party. Gotta be up and running for that one. Good nite....

Happy Birthday To You, Marmelade Im Schuh....

Sunday isn't worth mentioning so I'm just gonna skip it here and get straight to Monday. So Monday was my BIRTHDAY (yay!!!!!!!). I wasn't too excited cause I knew that not many people were gonna know about it. I got up late cause Mondays are uni-free days for me. I had nothing to do really so I took my time having breakfast and taking a shower, while reading the first 100 birthday wishes that flooded my facebook wall. Then I walked to campus and dealt with some things like signing the withdrawal form (I was still enrolled for 3 more units which I had to drop again cause I'm only allowed to take 4) and getting my linen pack, which I received upon arrival, paid. I was done quickly so I walked back to my room, watched about 2 episodes of desperate housewives (my new favorite show) and waited for Sebastian to come around so we could go shopping for the BBQ. We got meat, drinks and chips (the usual) and also stopped by the pharmarcy to get me something for my bugbites (I have about 20 on each leg. Those motherf***** love me). After having carried all my shit to my place it was time to wait agian. Since it was the first day of classes people were busy and I just had to wait until the BBQ for people to congratulate me (even though most of them had already done that through facebook).
At about 20 to 8 Anders and Sebastian came over to help me carry the stuff over to the BBQ place. I was still making tomato, mozzarella salad when I noticed that the cheese in Australia known as mozzarella tasted more like German gouda to me (die spinnen die Aussies). Luckily Sebastian still had some other cheese which looked and tasted more like the mozzarella I know but was just called different and so I was able to make the salad after all. We then got all the stuff to the BBQ place where Anders had already started up the grills. We were already late but there was no one else there until random people just passing by showed up and sat down. Sebastian told everyone that it was my birthday so I ended up getting congratulations from people I had never even met.
I had already thought that people were gonna be late but I didn't think that only half of the people I originally invited would actually show up. Benedikt (the German guy from Mainz) was one of the first and he was HUNGRY! Throughout the evening he had about 5 pieces of chicken and lots of salad (and he didn't even get me anything). Later Roman came and some others, which I had invited but they sat at the other table, had their own little BBQ and then left which I thought was kinda rude. At least they had their own food...
I had bought some wine for the night which I was drinking the entire time (very yummy Yellow Tail Sauvignon Blanc... will have to get that one again!) and so at some point I got annoyed that Chloe hadn't shown up yet (it was already 21.30) and so I walked to her flat and knocked on the door. She seemed very surprised to see me but calmed be down by telling me to be patient cause she was preparing a present. And I was calmed down... lol She showed up about 30 minutes later with a card signed by her, Kate and Craig (their Tasmanian roommate) and a bottle of Yellow Tail red wine. I don't know how preparing that could have taken so long but after all, they got me something. ;) I'm guessing the red wine is gonna be as good as the white one. Then Chloe and Kate went for a run (which took about 1 hour) and afterwards Chloe was too tired to stay and have a drink or just talk, so I was kinda upset. But the wine put me in a good mood then...
Sebastian, Anders and Roman also got the something. At some point Sebastian disappeared and then came back, putting a small vase with self picked flowers and a bittle of Abosult Vodka. Apparently people think I love drinking... or they just didn't know what else to get me. :D Later an Austrain girl I had met on Wednesday also came with (guess what) a bottle of Sekt. Apparently Sebastian had invited them but they called cause they didn't know the way and then he told them that it was my birthday, making them get me that Sekt. What a sweetheart. :D
Judith came with Ben (an American dude), Anne (a girl from France/Philippines) and Abbey (a Dutch girl). Just have a birthday party and you will meet lots of new people. We had some food, some more drinks and nice conversations but people started leaving pretty early and at about 23.30 it was just Sebastion, Priscilla (a Singaporian girl I had met on Wednesday as well and who showed up even though she was the last one I thought to be there... cute girl), Anders and me. So we cleaned up, got the stuff back to my place and all went to bed. I guess it wasn't the greatest party I've ever had but at least some people got me something and Sebastian really tried to make it nice for me. He's a really nice guy!
When I came back online there was about another 200 (not really but I would like to think so) birthday wished waiting for me. Thank god for facebook or some of us wouldn't remember any birthdays whatsoever... Then I went to bed
